Dear Customer, dear Partner,

We would like to invite you to meet us during IBC 2015 in Amsterdam, from Friday, September 11th through to Tuesday, September 15th.

At the show, iWedia will be demoing its Teatro-3.5, a software solution for Android TV STB, in a wide range of use cases: ported on a number of chipsets (Broadcom, Marvell, STMicroelectronics) and Set-Top Boxes (Arcadyan, Kaon, SmarDTV), integrated with various security solutions (Conax, Marlin, NAGRA, PlayReady, Verimatrix) and services delivery platforms (Ericsson Mediaroom Reach, NAGRA MediaLive), and customized for major TV service providers (Bouygues Telecom, KDDI).

The UI/UX of Teatro-3.5 is designed and developed using C-More, our 3D-enabled UI/UX framework. C-More is based on an innovative concept where the UI is made of scenes located in a 3D space. The transitions between these scenes are then achieved like if a camera would move in that space. This results in a responsive, fluid, immersive and playful end-user experience.

Of particular interest will be the world-first demonstration of the Conax smartcard-based Conditional Access System integrated within a satellite STB running Android TV and operated by Teatro-3.5.

“iWedia has been a pioneer with respect to the use of Android for STB with the development of our Teatro-3.5 STB software solution for Android TV,” said Hans-Jürgen Désor, CEO of iWedia. “We have constantly extended the scope of this solution to insert it within various end-to-end TV ecosystems in order to better serve TV service providers,” he added.

Teatro-3.0, a STB software solution for IP-connected zappers will also be showcased. Teatro-3.0 is based on Linux with a User Interface built in HTML/CSS which uses specific JavaScript APIs allowing access to digital TV features. The solution has been ported on a number of Set-Top Boxes (SmarDTV, TELE System) based on different SoC (Broadcom, HiSilicon, MStar, STMicrolectronics), integrated with various security solutions (Conax, NAGRA, PlayReady), and customized for several target markets (HD+, tivùsat).

In collaboration with Tuxera, we will be illustrating a simple way to bring Internet video content to the main screen through a companion device: Tuxera AllConnect enables any phone or tablet to stream any content e.g., a YouTube video to the DLNA Digital Media Renderer embedded in Teatro-3.0.

“Teatro-3.0 is ideally suited at entry level hybrid STB,” said Sunghoon Kim, VP Sales at iWedia. “However, it does not compromise on connectivity features as it gives full support to both home networking – through DLNA, and Web and OTT video services – through HbbTV,” he added.

And we will take the opportunity of the show to reemphasize our commitment towards the HbbTV standard. Our HbbTV 1.5 implementation has been widely deployed by major TV set and STB manufacturers and we are engaged in the development of HbbTV v2.0 with deployments scheduled at the beginning of 2016. At IBC we will focus our HbbTV v2.0 demo on the newly introduced companion screen features: a VoD HbbTV 2.0 app launches a companion app on the second screen to present additional information related to the selected event.

“In HbbTV 2.0 we trust!” said Hervé Creff, VP Marketing at iWedia. “We feel the additional features brought by v2.0 make HbbTV the open platform of choice for TV broadcasters and pay-TV operators to develop their added value services,” he added.
